Artist Bio

Zac Bayly is an Australian photographer. Contrasting intimate natural-light portraiture with graphic high-flash photography, his work explores the beauty and character of his subjects, often within wild surroundings. Compelled to explore new visions of masculinity in imagery, he taught himself to take photographs, quickly developing an idiosyncratic style typified by warmth, desire and subversion. His intuitive approach often involves capturing portraits of friends and newly-discovered subjects in the natural world at dawn and dusk or at night, when landscapes are rendered otherworldly. Previously Zac worked in editorial positions at publications such as Fantastic Man, Candy and BUTT, where his love and understanding of visual culture grew. His past experience as an interviewer contributes a sense of intimacy, curiosity and connection to his photographs. Zac has collaborated with Aries, Bottega Veneta, BUTT, Candy, DoBeDo Projects, Double, EY! (with EYTYS), JW Anderson, Modern Weekly, More Or Less, 032c, and more.
